“The Enterprise Qube” is an initiative developed at the Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Management Studies & Research with the view to provide a healthy platform for fostering the growth and development of young entrepreneurs. It is a platform created to help young aspirants to engage with the experienced Entrepreneurs and gain from their wide exposure and resources. It will also serve as an incubator and breeding facility to help mentors find and support innovative ideas that need nurturing. It is a coaching arena for all future business start-ups and a happy hunting ground for angel investors.
“The Enterprise Qube” will connect the best business minds and promote exceptional management talent enabling a mutually rewarding opportunity both for new business ventures and serial entrepreneurial supporters.
SVIMS has created a “Core Mentor Team” of dedicated and successful entrepreneurs to fulfill its ambition of becoming a true Business Incubator under the leadership of its trustees Dr. B. R. Manjunath and Dr. K. Manjunathaiah.

Dr. B.R. Manjunath (Director General & Mentor SVIMS)
A Masters in Physics from the University of Mysore and a Ph.D from the University of Strathclyde, UK and an MBA from UCLA, Dr. Manjunath’s career spans from basic Research in Physics on Structure of Polymers to Business Management and then to Education, with over 35 research papers and 2 patents to his credit in BTRA and Textiles Committee, he switched over to Business. He became an entrepreneur in setting up and developing business for a Quality Audit and evaluation Company INTEXA INDIA. Venturing further he set up the Indian company for a multi national Intertek and grew its business to neighbouring countries, Srilanka, Bangladesh and Mauritius. He is currently in the field of education of Business Management for grooming budding entrepreneurs. His other interests are theatre, dance, music, painting, astrophysics, linguistics, anthropology, and metaphysics.
Mr. K. Manjunathaiah (Trustee & Mentor SVIMS)
An Engineer by qualification, he worked as Engineer in Koyna Hydroelectric Project and then served as Scientific Officer in Bhabha Atomic Research Centre for over two decades. He started his own enterprise “Quantum Technologies” for High Vacuum Techniques, and later an Information Technology Marketing Firm “Quantums”, for Computer Hardwares. An Alumni of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management, he has a PG Diploma in Systems Management and is also a graduate in Economics and a postgraduate in Sanskrit. He is currently engaged in the field of Education. His interests encompass, Engineering, Planning, Business Administration, Metaphysics, Music, Theatre and Vedas.
Mr. Jaithirth (Jerry) Rao (Chief Mentor)
In 1998, Rao started MphasiS Corporation, a software company based in California, which subsequently merged with BFL Software in 2000. MphasiS rapidly rose to be one of the top 10 software companies in India. In 2008, EDS acquired a majority stake in MphasiS. EDS was subsequently acquired by HP. Earlier Rao held several positions in Citibank in a banking career spanning over 20 years in various capacities in Asia, Europe, South America and North America. He was named the Ernst & Young 'Entrepreneur of the Year 2004' for the New York region, which followed from his being similarly awarded in India two years prior to this. In 2005, the Government of Karnataka honoured him with the Rajyotsava Award.
He is also visiting faculty at IIM Ahmedabad and at IIT Bombay. He has been 'Entrepreneur in Residence' at Harvard Business School. He was also given the 'Entrepreneur of the Year' award by the Economic Times. Loyola College, Chennai, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and the University of Chicago have conferred 'Distinguished Alumnus' awards to Rao. Rao has been Chairman of NASSCOM. He was a founder of the Online Banking Association in the U.S. and has testified before the U.S Congress on Internet-related issues. His personal interests include reading, travelling and writing poetry on which Penguin India has published a book. He also writes a column for the Indian Express.
A collection of his columns has been published as a book "Notes from an Indian Conservative". He is currently the Founder and Chairman of Value and Budget Housing Corporation (VBHC), an affordable housing venture which he founded in 2010. He is also a Founder and Director of Homefirst Finance Corporation, a Housing Finance company focused on providing housing finance to first-time home buyers. He is a Trustee of Sujaya Foundation, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, India Foundation for the Arts and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the Nasscom Foundation.
Mr. Narayan Bhargava (Mentor – IT and allied industries)
Mr Narayan Bhargava is a Chartered Accountant and Cost Accountant of 1979 batch. He made a modest beginning by starting his CA firm called N. S. Bhargava & Co, Chartered Accounts with just a peon to help him and with practically no capital. Mr. Bhargava went on to become a leading entrepreneur in IT, Logistics, Human Resources and the agriculture industry in a career span of 35 years. In the year 1990 he ventured into computer field by starting Shell Transource Ltd with just 5 persons and ventured into what is now called BPO.
He was one of the early ones to start a domestic BPO and he is a pioneer in domestic BPO industry . Shell Transource today employs over 6000 people. In the year 2007 he also acquired an International BPO called Vital link Outsourcing which is based in Pune and serves only international clients. In the year 2005 to support the BPO operations he started logistic company called Shell Express Logistics Pvt ltd which today employs about 500 people. In the year 2007 he started Calibehr Human Capital Services Pvt ltd. which is a temping and recruitment firm and has more than 2000 persons as temping staff.
In 2009 he started a software company called Steeplap technologies pvt ltd which is a small company but poised to become big in few years. He started Bhargava Charitable Trust in 1985 which pursues charitable objectives. Mr. Bhargava is an ardent believer in promoting entrepreneurship by coaching and mentoring the younger generation.
Mr. Arun Sehgal (Mentor – Chemical Technology & FMCG Products
A first generation entrepreneur who came to Mumbai as a student in 1981. After finishing his Business School degree, he worked for Escorts Ltd and Larsen and Toubro Ltd, as he had no capital to immediately start his business. With burning desire to start exports, he discovered opportunities for employment with a few Foreign Trading Houses in the field of Chemicals trading, based mostly overseas in Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Taipei, Osaka, Moscow, London, Paris and New York to gain experience. He has 25 years of International Sales and field marketing experience and has sold a range of different products manufactured by the Indian SMEs to diverse international cultures (like Japan and Peru).
He has travelled and marketed products made by the Indian SMEs in more than 42 countries. He owns companies that are engaged in the field of Manufacturing and International Marketing of a variety of Chemical Intermediates, Bulk Drugs, APIs, Formulations, Specialty Chemicals, Dyestuffs, Pigments, Textiles and Ferro Alloys. He is a Promoter Director on several of these companies and an International marketing consultant to numerous SMEs in India. His companies- jointly referred as “The Chempro Group”, are ISO 9001-2000 certified and the Pharmaceutical formulations are manufactured at EU/ WHO GMP compliant units.
Mr Sehgal has been a visiting faculty since 1998, at the prestigious- Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, University of Mumbai, he is also a Guest Lecturer and Educator at a number of other Leading Business Schools, WTC Mumbai and other Chambers of Commerce, in the area of International Marketing, International Sales Management and Entrepreneurship. He believes in promoting entrepreneurship in the area of exports from India. He believes very strongly in the power of Indian Small and Medium Scale enterprises and actively educates and empowers them to export their products internationally. Maharashtra Economic Development Council recognized Mr. Sehgal as Entrepreneur of the Month in Nov 2004. All India Association of Industries also nominated him for the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri Award that is given away by the President of India for Business and Education for the year 2012.
Mrs. Chhaya A. Sehgal (Mentor – Women Entrepreneur initiatives)
Chhaya Sehgal holds a Bachelor’s in Science (B.Sc.), a Bachelor’s in Science and Technology (B.Sc. – Tech) from MUICT and Master’s in Management (MMS) from the JBIMS, Mumbai University. She has registered for the Ph.D. with SNDT Women’s University in ‘Strategic Reward & Compensation Systems and its impact on Employee Engagement, Employee Commitment and Employee Satisfaction’.

She is a Motivator, an Academician, and an Active Life Member of many Professional Bodies and Associations such as Institute of Management Consultants of India, All India Management Association, Bombay Management Association, Indian Society for Training and Development, Indian Institute of Public Administration, Indian Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association and Ladies’ Wing at Indian Merchants Chamber for whom she has been regularly organizing customized interactive workshops and seminars on the latest topics of applied management concepts. She has collaborated with World Trade Centre and All India Association of Industries to showcase the Entrepreneurial Initiative of the Executive MBA students at JBIMS titled ‘BIZORION’ as a Chief Mentor. It marked launch of a dozen odd sustainable business plans developed by the enterprising students and evaluated by the who’s who of the industry.
Widely traveled all over the world, she has been selected as “The Woman of the Year” by “The International Business woman’s who is who” Magazine published from USA in the year 2002. She has recently published a book on parenting titled ‘Can Mom’s Take a Chill Pill’. It has become one amongst the top ten selling books at Oxford Bookstore at Churchgate.
Mr. Kiran Yadav (Mentor – Services Industry)
Mr. Kiran Yadav holds a degree in B.Sc(Mathematics) and post graduation in MMS(Marketing) from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, University of Mumbai. He started his career with the Tata Group. He subsequently moved to AirIndia and served it in several capacities over 8 years. He headed Budget Rent A Car operations for the Asia region. Mr. Yadav was appointed regional manager South Asia for IATA and was instrumental in establishing the IATA offices in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan. He is the Founder Director of Livewire Training & Management Services Pvt Ltd a company that provides consultancy and management services to the Aviation, Banking, Education, Hospitality, Health and Insurance Industries.
In the year 2004 Mr. Yadav set up Aerobiz International Pvt Ltd, India which provides consultancy and audit services in aviation IOSA Audits. Mr. Yadav has also set up YALACH Holdings Pte Ltd, Singapore, Aurum Aviation Pte Ltd, Singapore and Aviation Careers Academy, SNDT Campus, Mumbai. He has been a board member of CDI Cargo, Beijing and Air Promotion Group Global Associates, Paris, France.
Mr. Yadav is an educator and an eternal student of management constantly engaged in nurturing talent and mentoring future Entrepreneurs. He was an Executive Board member of Association of Indian Management Schools and an Honorary member of Travel Agents Federation of India. Recently Mr. Yadav has promoted “Success TryAngles” an initiative to impart holistic management education to MBA students.
Mr. Raj Jaswa (Mentor - IT & General Business Enterprise)
B-Tech from IIT, Mumbai, MSEE from University of Toronto, MBA from Stetson University. He has played several senior roles with various companies in SIlicon Valley, California such as Chairman & CEO of Dyyno Inc. Indore. Ex-CEO & President of SElectica Inc. OPTi inc., Marketing Director, Chips & Technologies. He started his career as a Design Engineer, Harris Corp., Rochester, New York, went to become Project Engineer at GE Corp, Daytona Beach Florida from Dec. 1977 to June, 1980. He was Marketing Manager, Intel Inc. before Chips & Technologies. He has been President of TiE The Indus Entrepreneurs from January, 2005 to December, 2008.
